From September 2023, Dr Isabella Fiorello (*1992) has led the Biohybrid Machines group at the Cluster of Excellence Living, Adaptive and Energy-autonomous Materials Systems (livMatS) at the University of Freiburg. The research group aims to develop biologically inspired microfabricated living materials able to precisely interact with complex unstructured surfaces for applications in precision agriculture, smart fabrics, space and soft robotics.
